          This black-and-white series explores how much emotion and detail can live in the space between light and shadow. Without color, textures become sharper, shapes feel more intentional, and familiar scenes take on an entirely new mood. These photographs are an experiment in seeing differently; slowing down, stripping an image to its essentials, and letting contrast reveal what we often overlook.

          Technically, working in monochrome pushed me to pay closer attention to exposure, tonal range, and the way light falls across surfaces. Every frame became a study in precision; balancing highlights and shadows, controlling depth, and using contrast to guide the viewer’s eye. Together, these images blend creative instinct with deliberate technique, capturing moments where simplicity becomes its own form of clarity.

          This collection brings together my black-and-white and color film work, a medium I first fell in love with in high school. I started by experimenting in introductory art classes, learning how to load reels in the darkroom, hand-develop negatives, and slow down enough to really compose a shot with intention. By senior year, I was TA-ing for the same class that sparked everything; helping younger students understand exposure, composition, and the magic of watching an image appear in the developer tray.

          Film taught me patience, discipline, and how to trust my eye long before I could see the results. The texture, grain, and imperfections in these photographs reflect that process: each frame captured deliberately, each mistake a lesson, each image its own small moment of discovery. This collection is both a tribute to where I started and a reminder of how much creativity lives in slowing down.

          This collection captures moments from Hoi An, a city filled with color, movement, and traditions that unfold slowly as you wander its streets. Traveling here gave me the chance to admire a culture different from my own, from lantern-lit nights along the river to the quiet beauty of everyday life happening in the background.

          Photography became a way to honor those moments: the textures of old town walls, the glow of markets at dusk, the small interactions that reveal the heart of a place. Being able to travel and experience new cultures has shaped the way I see the world, and these images reflect that sense of curiosity, gratitude, and openness. Each photo is a reminder of how meaningful it is to step into unfamiliar spaces and let them change you.

Live music has its own rhythm beyond the sound; light cutting through smoke, color washing over a crowd, and performers suspended in a moment that lasts only as long as the beat. This collection captures those fleeting seconds when everything aligns: the sweep of a spotlight, the pulse of LED walls, the glow of a guitar string, or the expression of an artist lost in their performance.

From massive outdoor stages to low-lit jazz rooms, these images lean into atmosphere (fog, shadows, neon, and motion) to translate the electricity of a concert into still frames. Each photo reflects the perspective of someone inside the experience: close enough to feel the bass, immersed enough to catch the small gestures most people miss.
